Our Mission:

Our mission is to make it easier for professionals to find colleagues anywhere in the world - to facilitate cross-border patient care, expedite cascade testing, and strengthen professional connections across the global genetics community.

How It Started — The Challenge:

The idea for this directory grew directly from a recurring problem. For years, genetics professionals posted requests on community pages and emailed organization leadership looking for help identifying colleagues in other countries. Providers needed to connect patients with genetics services abroad, facilitate cascade testing for families living on different continents, and find reliable contacts across language and geographic barriers.

While valuable regional and professional networks exist, no single resource brought the global genetics community together in one place.

The Solution:

We created the global genetics directory as a resource to solve a longstanding clinical bottleneck. It provides a centralized, consent-based, verified platform built to serve the needs of the genetics workforce worldwide. The directory is still growing. Every new member makes it more useful for all of us.

Funding & Support:

The initial launch of the Global Genetics Directory was made possible through the support of the 2024 Audrey Heimler Special Projects Award from the National Society of Genetic Counselors (NSGC).

This foundational funding enabled the establishment of our core networking infrastructure, workforce mapping tools, and global outreach initiatives. Following this foundational award, ongoing maintenance, operational platform costs, and directory expansion are sustained independently to ensure long-term, reliable access for the global community.
